Healthy salad options at Balay Verde

Most of us are looking for healthier food options. Something that fills your tummy, nutritious, and fresh. I found this new restaurant inside Abreeza Ayala Mall named Balay Verde that offers organic, fresh, and healthy food options to all Dabawenyos.

I was lucky enough to receive an invite for a farm tour and food tasting from the owners. We went to Huni Farm in Wangan, Calinan and Gems Farm in Tacunan to witness how they grow all of their vegetables, fruits, poultry, and pigs. The whole day tour opened my eyes to organic farming and it was totally worth it.

LOCATION

The restaurant is located at the 2nd floor of Abreeza Ayala Mall, just in front of Anytime Fitness Gym. It's an open space but can cater to a lot of customers. They have wooden walls and bricks with the menu written on chalkboards.

FOOD

They serve lunch, merienda, and dinner buffet. They also have a la carte salads that I would definitely recommend.

SALADS

KING KALE P270 - Featuring the king of all leafy vegetables - The Kale, tossed with cabbage, chickpeas, avocado, red raddish and quinoa in a sweet and creamy almond dressing. All hail to almighty nutritious King!

FRENCH FARMER P270 - Green and red lettuce, arugula, tomatoes, and black olives topped with aged cheese, quail eggs, sirloin beef steak, and croutons. Drizzled with creamy yogurt dressing.

LILY'S P240 - Roselle flower, golden raisins, fresh cucumber, and lettuce. Topped with white cheese and pan-seared chicken breast in a creamy mayo-celery dressing.

HOLA MISS MICHELLE P270 - Rich and filling Mexican mix of fresh lettuce, fish fillet, tomatoes, cucumber, red raddish, white beans, corn, and avocado, in a honey lime vinaigrette.

KERABU P240 - Pickled mangoes, cucumber, green lettuce, dried shrimp, and pork. Tossed in a sweet and spicy Sambal Belacan dressing, a very refreshing salad inspired by our Malay roots.

BALAY VERDE P240 - Green lettuce, tomatoes, salted egg, smoked fish and kesong puti in a sweet, garlic, vinaigrette from our homegrown coconut vinegar. Their take on the classic Filipino ensalada.

SUPER FOOD P270 - Quinoa, lettuce, sweet potato, alfalfa and mongo sprouts, roselle flower, and avocado sprinkled with mild chili and coriander. Drizzled with a light vinaigrette.

MIDORI P240 - Edamame, mongo and alfalfa sprouts, red raddish, cucumber and fresh green lettuce topped with black and white sesame crusted tuna with spicy wasabi vinaigrette.

You can also choose to wrap the salad.

SERVICE

The staff were all busy cleaning at the counter and preparing the food. They will not approach you on the table so I guess you need to go to the counter to order. However, the staff were friendly and answers all of your concerns.
