Hermanos Bar and Grill

Change brings new opportunities. That's what I learned from my visit to this new found restaurant named Hermanos. Hermanos started as a bar and grill in 2016 and now revamping as a family diner. I was glad to join the food bloggers activity and tried some of their best sellers and new dishes.

LOCATION

They are located on University Ave., Juna Subdivision, Matina, just behind K1 Spa Quimpo Blvd. The ambiance is not that remarkable but it has that "family diner" style. They have plenty of seats and tables and they have a wide outdoor dining area. Parking space is enough for at least 8 cars.

FOOD

GARDEN SALAD (P99) - A hefty serving of green salad with chicken. You may choose Balsamic or Ceasar's dressing.

ONION RINGS (P120) - I'm not sure if the breading was too thick that I didn't taste the squid at all. The sour cream dip was good.

CUBAN SANDWICH (P129) - Tender pork braised in special spices with ham and cheese in a Cuban style bread. I believe this has that distinct smell. It tastes good but not my favorite.

HERMANOS BURGER (P99) - Yes! It's just 99 PESOS! 100% imported beef seasoned and char-grilled to perfection.

CHILI AND GARLIC IN OLIVE OIL (P89) - Spaghetti noodles tossed in olive oil, chili, and garlic. The pasta became stiff when I ate it. Maybe because we took too many pictures of all the dishes. But I like the kick of spiciness in every bite.

BOLOGNESE IN PENNE (P99) - Penne pasta in Italian bolognese sauce. Served with garlic bread. I find this dish too saucy. The sauce is runny and thin.

BACON AND MUSHROOM ALFREDO (P129) - Fettuccine noodles in alfredo sauce with mushroom and bacon bits. The alfredo sauce is just right, I like it.

FISH AND WEDGES (P139) - By looking at it for the first time, you can't tell which is the fish and which is the potato wedge. I like this dish because the sour cream dip compliments the breading of the fish and the potatoes.

REGULAR BUFFALO WINGS (P159) - My favorite!

KOREAN STYLE BUFFALO WINGS (P159) - Sweeter version of their regular buffalo wings. I like this too!

SIZZLING SEAFOOD (P169) - A sizzling plate with fish, squid, and shrimp in marinara sauce. It's like gambas but with fish and squid. A good option for "pulutan".

HERMANOS PORK BBQ (P59 - 2 pieces w/ rice) - One of their best signature dishes. It's not just good as a "pulutan". You can't resist ordering a cup of rice or two.

PORK LIEMPO w/ RICE (P109) - Meaty and less fat.

SPARE RIBS w/ RICE (P159) - Spare ribs in special sauce.

TIRAMISU (P130) - I like sweets but I find this too sweet. Best served chilled.

POTS DE CREME (P100) - It's like a soft brownie with whip creme on top. I think this is best eaten warm.

SERVICE

During our food tasting, the staff was able to accommodate us but some of our requests came a bit late. The owners were kind enough to talk to us.
